ISPO Brandnew Award Magazine 2015 – polychromelab goes Racing
Polychromelab’s Designer Michele Stinco was nominated for jury member of ISPO Brandnew Award 2015. His expertise is based on long year experience as product designer. This is one reason for making him jury member of Brandnew Award 2015. For polychromelab winning this prestigious award for startups in 2012 already is the other reason.
On this occasion ISPO Brandnew Award Magzine presents polychromelab in a story of success. The magazine was especially convinced by polychromelabs’s effort to engineer innovative products. In collaboration with Schoeffel a reversible winteroverall for Skiteam Austria was designed, that will help ski racers at warmup, training and racecourse inspections.

The Swiss outdoor journal Spot Magazine introduces from time to time interesting routes, places and equipment trends. This time in the repository: Roccia Rossa sports jacket by polychromelab.

This is why we were chosen: Many manufacturers engineer their jackets in an office on computers and start testing the first time, when products are allready in series production. We try to test our prototypes in various stress tests to eliminate shortcomings early. Furthermore we manufacture in Northern Italy to make transport and communication distances as short as possible. An additional sustainable aspect is an ecofriendly PFC-free finishing by HeiQ Barrier Eco to make our sports jackets waterproof.

Am Anfang war die Idee: Es muss kein Großkonzern mit Fertigung in Asien sein. Und trotzdem soll ein vollkommen neues Material mit überragender Funktionalität für Bekleidung entwickelt werden. Im Jahr 2010 nimmt der Gedanke des Designers Michele Stinco mit dem Projekt „PolychromeLAB“ konkrete Gestalt an: Mit der Uni Innsbruck und weiteren Kooperationspartnern wird ein Drei- Lagen-Laminat, das 98 % sichtbares UV absorbieren oder 28 % sichtbares UV reflektieren kann. Es wärmt also durch Lichtabsorption und kühlt durch Lichtreflexion. Innen wird zu Außen – je nach Bedarf. Getestet wurde das Material hinsichtlich seiner UV-Belastbarkeit und Wasserdichtheit seit dem Herbst 2012 im Forschungszentrum am Glungezer in den Tuxer Alpen. Die erste selbst konfektionierte Wendejacke von PolychromeLAB, die „Alta Quota“, war zu Testzwecken 8.000 Stunden an der Forschungsstation fixiert. Produziert wird diese Jacke genauso wie das zweite Modell, die „Roccia Rossa“, zu 100 Prozent in Italien. Von dort kommen auch die Komponenten, Stoffe und Zusätze, die Konfektion fertigt ein kleiner Familienbetrieb in Turin. Denn eine bestmögliche CO2-Bilanz ist den Tüftlern von PolychromeLAB genauso wichtig wie die Top-Performance des Produkts.
