Ice Waterfall – Wearing Alpine Gear

Abseiling in Iced Waterfall – Occasion for Wearing Alpine Gear

At the beginning of this winter we had installed a spot for abseiling in an iced waterfall to enable this great freeride slope for winter skiing. There’s need of wearing alpine gear to have maximum elbowroom at outdoors work without giving up on protection against snow and coldnees.

Then there was no snow, but anyway it was hard work to fix a climbing rope for abseiling in winter. Since then we had a lot of snowfalls and now, in March, there’s still snow and nearly everything is iced, as well the waterfall. This is the reason why we had installed this spot for abseiling, because otherwise we couldn’t overcome this steep, high cliff on a nice freeride session.

Now you may ask, what for we’re doing all of this? There are two reasons why: First, this freeride route is pretty cool. Unfortunately it is intercepted by this cliff. So without a abseiling spot there’ll be now freeride route. Second, we do fieldtesting. All year long we want to test our products like the polychromelab La Neve Nera winteroverall (worn this time) outdoors under extreme conditions. This way we kill two birds with one stone: we’re enjoying a nice freeride session wearing alpine gear for testing!

Finally, some pictures of our adventure day!

News about world’s first reversible Winteroverall

Outkomm: Press release of world’s first reversible Winteroverall

Out now: Many customers have asked for it, fans demanded this and we wished for it – polychromelab engineers a whole-body clothing concept. By now there were „only“ jackets available, that helped to regulate and stabalise bodytemperature outdoors to enjoy maximum wearing comfort at sports. Now there’s world’s first reversible winteroverall by polychromelab, that helps you regulate and stabalise body temperature outdoors.

An other great feature of this concept is, that this new winteroverall by polychromelab not only is suitable for extreme coldness, but also could be worn in spring, when sun radiation is higher and one easier starts to sweat wearing warm wintergear.

By all this functionality we haven’t forgot about design: two sides, two colours, two overalls – all in one winteroverall. Here’s the german press release to polychromelab’s new winteroverall on Outkomm:

Temperature regulation in no time – polychromelab presents innovative reversible overall on Outkomm.ch (english press release will be available soon)

Polychromelab launches new Schoeffel OESV Warmup DH Suit Women

Polychromelab launches new Schoeffel OESV Warmup DH Suit for Alpine Ski Worldcup Women in Bad Kleinkirchheim. This ski overall by Schoeffel and OESV made off a 3 layer fabric is explained to Austrian ski racers here. Read about what this ski overall made off the unique reversible fabric by polychromelab is capable of and why Schoeffel and OESV have chosen this fabric for their equipment.

Collaboration between Schoeffel, OESV and polychromelab at Wintersports Gear

Polychromelab ltd., Tyrolean startup with site in Innsbruck and high altitude lab on 2610 meters, was able to persuade visionary Toni Giger (head of department for development, research and innovation at OESV) and Schoeffel Sportsgear ltd. Schwabmuenchen (official outfitter of OESV Alpine Racing Ski since 2009) in 2014 for the project „Warmup Downhill Suit“ in alpine racing ski. Shared passion for research and sports science had helped this highend project come to life.

OESV’s downhill racing skiers wear worldwide unique Warmup Downhill Suit made off reactive polychromelab 3 layer fabric. Women’s ski team Austria wears Warmup DH Suit at training and at preparation until race’s start.

If racing skiers feel cold, they wear Schoeffel OESV Ski-Overall on black outside and take advantage of infrared and uv radiation to need less clothing to stay warm and to sweat less at warming up. It gets interesting in spring and summer training (Zermatt and domestic glaciers). This concept offers athletes the unique opportunity to stay cool when it’s hot. More features of this ski overall are high elasticity in back and bottom area. The concept of „freedom of movement“ is setting some touchstones in overall clothing sector.

Marcel Hirscher wearing new Ski Jacket

Marcel Hirscher likes Schöffel polychromelab Ski Jacket

Marcel Hirscher, three times Alpine Ski Racing overall worldcup’s winner and double world champion in Schladming, Austria 2013, wears a high-tech ski jacket, which was designed by Schoeffel and OESV Racing in collaboration. Passion for science and sport research caused this cooperation using polychromelab’s high-tech reversible fabric for the new Warmup Suit.

This high-tech ski jacket is conceptualized as a reversible overall, that warms on black at warmup or rest and, when reversed, cools on bronze at sports or great sun radiation. Schoeffel and OESV Racing one-piece Warmup Downhill Suit will help skiing athletes to need less gear and to achieve greater successes in Alpine Ski Racing world cup.

In the end of 2014 OESV skiing athletes have worn this reversible ski jacket in world cup the first time. Today we’d like to show you, how Marcel Hirscher celebrates New Year in his new skiing jacket.

How much Marcel Hirscher likes his ski overall, you’ll find out on his facebook page: Marcel-Hirscher/Facebook

Matthias Mayer wears new OESV Ski Overall

OESV and Schoeffel choose polychromelab fabric for downhill Ski Overall

The Austrian Ski Association chooses polychromelab reversible fabric for alpine ski racing ski overall this winter season. At alpine ski racing world cup 2014/15 downhill skiers of Skiteam Austria wear an onepiece overall – named Schoeffel OESV Warmup Suit Men with polychromelab’s fabric – while warming up and training. This ski overall was developed in collaboration with Schöffel and OESV Racing.

This one-piece suit ski overall for men is fabricated out of a special reversible laminate, which is coloured Bronze inside and Black outside. Ski racing athletes will wear this winter overall with the cooling side outside at warmup to prevent overheating. Afterwards, in concetration phase before the start, athletes will wear the warming side outside to prevent undercooling to be well prepared for the race.

Of course the modern design Warmup Suit looks easy on the eyes in interviews and television, like in Matthias Mayer’s case.

Proudly we present a first picture of Matthias Mayer, Olympic gold medallist at downhill ski racing in Sotchi 2014, wearing Schoeffel OESV on-epiece Ski Overall in an interview in Santa Caterina at ski worldcup. Needles to say that we wish Matthias Mayer and Skiteam Austria very good luck and success this season!

Winter gear required – working day

Working day with quad bike in high mountain range

We can hardly believe that a lack of snow makes work more difficult. But this isn’t a joke: normaly in winter times we ascend with ski tour skies to the polychromelab 2610 textiles research laboratory, but this time there was too less snow for a proper ski tour and too much to go be feet.

Fortunately a good friend of ours lend us his quad bike, so we could transport our working stuff to the Glungezer Hütte. This was great fun – up to 2400 meters we could use a quad bike, the last 250 meters we could test our winter gear and went be ski.

Winter gear, ski tour, working and downhill skiing

In the lab there were many things to do. Next week we’ll tell you all about what the extreme storms at the Glungezer do to our textile research laboratory.

Most fun today was to test our new winter jacket Alta Verde on a nice ski tour up to the peak. The weather was brilliant, it was a way in ease and inspiration, these are the great things of our work.

In the evening, jacketed in warm winter gear, we got the reward for our winter day and enjoyed the prime of this winter day on the Glungezer Hütte at downhill skiing. See you next time!
