Alpine Jackets Video: how alpine jackets by polychromelab work

in 2014 Alpine Jackets by polychromelab were nominated for the Innovation Award Tyrol in the category best concept. Unfortunately we couldn’t win against very professional competition at this year’s prize-wining ceremony. But on the occasion of being nominee the filmteam Fancytreefilms made a video explaining our functional alpine jackets.

Arising of a Storm – Textiles Research Tyrol

Textiles research Tyrol: a strom over the alpine lab

From 4th to 5th November a seriously heavy storm browsed over Tyrol. At many places the storm destroyed roofes and did a lot of further damage. At the peak of Mount Glungezer nearby Innsbruck the storm was that heavy that a grown man barely could have stayed on his feet. In our high altitude laboratory for textiles research Tyrol we measured wind velocity of 264km/h.

Thanks to our webcams, which are observating the weather situations day and night, we now have a video of the weather constellation at the days before the storm and zero hour. It wasn’t the first time that a heavy storm swept across Tyrol. Here’s the video from our textiles research laboratory Tyrol at the Glungezer:

That’s how extreme weather can be in Tyrol. The snow quickly was blown away and even so for our test dummies.

The heavy damage the storm did to our lab for textiles research Tyrol also offers an advantage for us: the measurement data afford us deep insight in the behaviour of textiles and jackets under heavy conditions, so we can improove our work for the future. This exact concept led the German company Heimplanet to us: they’ve tested their tents in our alpine lab polychromelab 2610.

Outdoorjackets Test on ORF Newton

ORF Newton does an outdoorjackets test

This time ORF Newton decided to test outdoorjackets by comparison. Many producers claim adjectives like waterproof or extreme warming for their jackets. ORF Newton is going to ascertain, whether this is true or not, in a comparing outdoorjackets test.

In some warmth, coldness and rain tests three different jackets will be tested to detect their outdoor usability. One loden jacket, one down jacket and the polychromelab Alta Quota outdoorjacket compete in the ultimative test. What are the outdoorjackets capable of? How comfortable are the different products actually while wearing under extreme conditions?

ORF Newton is going to ascertain advantages and disadvantages of outdoorjackets in only ten minutes. Enjoy this interesting report!

Well, what can I say? All jackets have advantages and disadvantages, but only one outdoorjacket is able to warm, when it’s cold, and cool, when it’s hot. The polychromelab Alta Quota ORF jacket is available in polychromelab concept store.

But ORF Newton doen’t believe lab’s test results, so they visit polychromelab’s Alpine Proof outdoor textiles research laboratory to test outdoor jackets for men and women under real weather conditions to investigate whether an outdoor jacket is truely high-tech or not. Polychromelab talks about their idea Alpine Proof

It all started, as normal, at a mountain hike. Again gear couldn’t conform to the weather conditions in the mountains. If there only would be a warranty for Outdoor-products, that they really keep their promises outside in nature! Who hasn’t thought of it?

Michele Stinco and Elisabeth Frey from polychromelab started to test polychromelab fabrics under real weather conditions – and not only in sterile laboratories. The testing results of the prototype-jackets meant a qualified insight for product development to polychromelab. The company takes an advantage of their situation in the heart of the tyrolean Alps.

Alpine Proof as an alpine seal of approval

Step by step the idea of Alpine Proof takes shape in the thinkings of Michele and Elisabeth. In their own alpine textile-laboratory at the Glungezer in Tyrol even products from foreign apparel producers were tested on trial. Now the project Alpine Proof reaches the next stage: In near future an alpine seal of approval should come to life with fincial supports and broad cooperation between a lot of partners to allow international and local apparel producers to test their Outdoor gear in Tyrol to get the alpine seal of approval, named Alpine Proof.

Am Montag den 8. September um 20:30 strahlt Channel 4 die dritte Episode von Gadget Man aus. Hier geht es zur Programmübersicht: Channel4-Gadget-Man-Jacke.

Channel 4 Gadget Man presents Roccia Rossa designer jacket

On monday the 8th september at 20:30 Channel 4 broadcasts the third episode of Gadget Man. Here is the link to the television programming schedule: Channel4-Gadget-Man-jacket.

Gadget Man is an interesting TV show of the british Channel 4 and we are happy that they will present the Roccia Rossa designer jacket. We don’t know yet which tests our jacket has to stand. So let’s see how well the reversible jacket suits as a Gadget Man jacket.

Ambition² meets polychromelab

We’re glad to present our Roccia Rossa product video, which is set to music by Ambition². The local DJ talent Ambition² was really inspired by polychromelab. Soon everything was arranged: Ambition² has chosen his song Spring to let dance the Roccia Rossa Design jacket.
